This month we will be experimenting with marbling. Linda Vaughn is bringing Methocel, the stuff that makes paint float, so please bring paper to marble, newspaper to clean the water between marbling sessions, thin paints that can be thinned with water, skewers, combs and a waterproof tray of some kind to hold the floating paint. It can be a box lid lined with plastic or a plastic box. Linda will bring her marbling tray so you are also welcome to take turns using that to marble your paper. If you bring a small rack of some kind to hold the paper while it dries, that would be wonderful. (I use a vertical wire rack made to hold folders but I turn it up to make it horizontal.) Heat guns and hair dryers can help speed drying the paper, too.

The paint needs to be light enough to sit on top of the Methocel so you can bring any kind as long as it is thin or can be thinned. Also bring newspaper to clean off the top of the Methocel after each application, to get a clean surface for the next person or next piece of paper. Ideally whatever is placed on top of the Methocel should transfer to the piece of paper each time. whatever is left, that is not desired for the next application can be skimmed off using newspaper strips.

If it is a nice day, we can put some of the pieces out in the sun to dry . Clothespins and a bit of light rope/heavy string could hold pieces to dry as well so bring that if you have it.

Whatever is left over can be taken home for those who want to continue to experiment at home, if you bring plastic containers to store it in. It will keep, refrigerated, for a little while.

Lots of supplies, nice people, and effort made by everyone. I learned the process of marbling which is the most important thing. The results were hit or miss but that's Ok. Meeting itself was good.

Thanks to Linda for doing such a great job setting us up with supplies and showing us how it's done!
